Working knowledge base on halal certification and halal auditing — the Indonesian BPJPH / HAS-SJPH (Halal Assurance System) scheme applied to foreign companies, with an operating focus on China (PRC).
Maintained by a halal auditor of an Indonesian LPH (halal inspection body); notes authored with the help of a knowledge agent; publishing handled separately.

The 5 HAS/SJPH criteria
| Criterion | Core question |
|---|---|
| 1 — Commitment and Responsibility | Does the company mean it? (policy, supervisor, team, training) |
| 2 — Materials | Is every material provably halal? |
| 3 — Process (PPH) | Is the product actually made halal? (flowchart, facility, records) |
| 4 — Products | Is what reaches the customer halal in substance and presentation? |
| 5 — Monitoring and Evaluation | Does the company watch itself? (internal audit, management review) |
The criteria are the core, and the rest of the knowledge base is organized into six supporting sections.

Whatever section you are reading, one rule applies to everything above.
Verification rule
Nothing in this knowledge base replaces checking the current rule text. Before an audit or in an official document:
- confirm the item against your own LPH’s interpretation and current BPJPH provisions (SIHALAL, JDIH
jdih.halal.go.id, Data Publik onbpjph.halal.go.id);- check the live LHLN list before accepting any foreign halal certificate;
- treat news dates as the “as of” date for every regulatory row.
Status legend used across the notes: ✅ usable (auditor-confirmed practice) · 🟡 seed level (needs deepening) · 🔎 verify (regulatory detail that must be re-checked against a dated source before official use).
Conventions: prose is in English, with audit-critical terms keeping their Chinese (中文) and/or Bahasa Indonesia forms inline at first use; regulatory statements are dated or sourced (BPJPH rules change often — see the verification rule above).
